    Dear Eric,
On the 8/12/14 MLB telecast controversy re running to 1b /interference with Reynolds & Amsinger, I believe you are correct. A runner must run to the right of the foul line midway, once he gets to the adjacent chalked lined base path to the right of the foul line, or risk being called for interference if hit by throw for running in fair territory.
A runner can run safely in fair territory until he gets to the baseline point where the second chalked begins. This is where they should veer into foul territory & run in foul territory to the base, unless throw is coming from foul territory on 1B side.
I noticed that during the discussion, 1B was repeatedly placed incorrectly on the inside of the foul line, instead of to the outside or right edge of the foul line. This may have caused the confusion for your colleagues. Once it’s placed on outside of foul line, the right side of base is accessible to runner running to right side of base in foul territory. Check the rule & don’t let them shout or deride you, you’re right.
